Interview Tips

PDF Print E-mail

Hello friends, have you ever been on an interview and you suddenly become nervous and your head becomes hot, and you just cannot think how to answer your questions. I mean, you are just lost for words and cannot answer the questions you are being asked.

And one of the first questions they ask you is, “Tell me about yourself”. OK, here, before you answer, you feel confident, and by the time you open your mouth and you see the reaction of the interviewer(s), it is like, heck, what did I just say? Did I answer that question right or what, or, are they simply impressed with me?

If you are thinking like this, then you know you have had a false start! You start sweating and your "false" confidence disappears. You get nervous, so your throat becomes dry, and you start sweating * you really should not because the room is cool – A/C is blowing arctic wind! OK, so you already know you messed up on the interview, and you want to exit the interview.

When you have an experience like this, you really did not prepared for your interview, and hence you should return to the drawing board, and practice, practice. Now, what do you practice? A very good question, right. You need to know who you are, and what your skills and your strengths are. Once these are ascertained, study and practice them, and practice your delivery.

It is important for you to:

  • Know your skills.
  • Know your strengths - and be ready to give examples of your strengths.
  • Be aware of your qualities - those others often mention to you.
  • How much do you know about yourself?
  • Are you ready to answer the question, "Tell me about yourself?" (practice and make your delivery in 30 seconds)
  • Exercise, read and relax, so you can always present a confident you on interview day.
